Liberty Seguros has been in Portugal since May 23, 2003, when the former European company was acquired from the Swiss group Credit Suisse. It has nine decades of experience, allied to the dedication of each one of its 485 employees, in the search for better protection solutions for Portuguese households, individuals and for micro, small and medium-sized companies.

Throughout the country, the Company has a vast network of Liberty Seguros Spaces and Insurance Agents' offices, strategically allied to the Company, through which it offers a wide range of products and services that allow Customers to enjoy a safer and more protected Life.

In Portugal, as in the rest of the world, Liberty Seguros finds Values such as Solidarity, Team Spirit, Dedication, Commitment to Work and Responsibility to the Community the most important values that govern and are in perfect harmony with its mission: To protect the values of life.

In 2011, it recorded 240.2 million euros in premiums - 23.5 million in Life and 216.7 million in Non-Life, with overall net income of 14.1 million euros, 980,654 policies in force and a 5.4 % share of the Non-Life market. The core business is centered on Non-Life, with a special focus on Motor insurance (60.2%), referring to Premiums issued in December 2011. Liberty Seguros ranks 9th among Non-Life insurers in Portugal, with a market share of 5.4%. The average growth rate of Non-Life written premiums between 2006 and 2011 was 7.7%.
Liberty Seguros in Portugal received the 2011/2012 Excellence at Work Award for the second consecutive year, thus ranking it as the best large company to work for in Portugal. The award was based on a study conducted by Heidrick&Struggles, in partnership with Diário Económico and ISCTE Business School. In addition to being ranked first in the Top 5 of large companies with a score of 86.08%, the company also won in the important sector of Banking, Insurance and Financial Services.

In 2011, the Company was distinguished by Exame magazine's "Banking & Insurance" Awards as the "Best Insurer" in the segment of large "non-life" insurance companies. The award was based on a study conducted by Informa, D&B and Deloitte which elected the best institutions and companies in the Banking and Insurance segment, based on their economic and financial performance in 2010.

Also this year, the Liberty Seguros "I Respect the Road" campaign won the Sapo 2011 Gold Award, as the best online campaign in the financial sector. The project, born in March 2011, was based on the creation and guidance of a Facebook movement that is growing organically and already has the participation and interaction of more than 22,000 people.

The company was also distinguished in 2011 with the Entity of the Year award at the 16th Sports Gala. The award was proposed by the Portuguese Cycling Federation and was based on the Company's annual investment in the development of cycling in Portugal: the company is the main sponsor of the national cycling teams and supports clubs and athletes in different areas of the sport.
