Claims must be reported within a maximum of 8 days from the date of occurrence.

The communication must be made in writing, with R2 Seguros providing a form to fill in, and then sent by email to the insurers.

There are essential elements when filling in the claim form, which we indicate:

  • Policy number;
  • Date and time of claim;
  • Location and detailed description of the accident;
  • Contact persons responsible for scheduling the expert opinion (if applicable).

Important notes on the insured's duties in the event of a claim

  • In the event of an emergency, the insured should call 112. In some specific cases, such as fire and flood claims, the first thing to do is to call the competent authorities, which could be the fire department or the police.
  • In the event of theft or robbery, the claim must be reported to the competent authorities, who will record the incident and identify the stolen property. The document drawn up by the authorities, the auto, must be delivered to the insurance company together with the claim report form.
  • In the event of Water Damage, the insured must immediately call a plumber to the scene. Their duty will be to develop the necessary measures to minimize the worsening of the damage;
  • No finishing work should be carried out (e.g. sealing of shafts), no traces of the claim should be removed, and salvage should be preserved.

How to make the process faster and more efficient

In order for the process to be regularized more quickly, there is information and documentation that must be sent along with the claim report form, namely:

  • Photos of the damage;
  • Technical reports on the causes and damage;
  • Repair/replacement quotes broken down by type of work and respective costs;
  • Property documents, such as Cadernetas Prediais;
  • Proof of IBAN for possible compensation.

Once all the documentation is in place, the insurers open the case and immediately begin the procedures for regularization, such as appointing expert offices and accounting for the damage.
