The diagnosis of construction pathologies is essential to identify their origin and thus be able to guide and define the appropriate intervention, not only in terms of their effects, but mainly by acting definitively to repair their cause, ensuring a definitive and effective repair.
Here are some reasons why diagnosis is important for effective intervention:
- Accurate identification of the problem:
Before carrying out any intervention on a structure, it is essential to fully understand the nature and extent of the problem. Diagnosis allows the root causes of the problems to be identified, enabling the implementation of assertive and effective solutions.
- Proper selection of repair techniques:
Based on the diagnosis, it is possible to select the most appropriate repair techniques to solve the specific problem, as each pathology may require different approaches, and the diagnosis helps to determine which method will be most effective and long-lasting.
- Prevention of unnecessary interventions:
Without a proper diagnosis, there is a risk of implementing inappropriate solutions or performing unnecessary interventions, which not only wastes resources but can also aggravate the problem and cause additional damage to the structure.
- Cost-benefit assessment:
The diagnosis allows for an assessment of the cost-benefit ratio of the different intervention options, which is important to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and that the chosen solutions offer the best return on investment.
- Safety assurance:
A poorly planned or executed intervention can further compromise the safety of the structure, so diagnosis helps to ensure that interventions are carried out safely and that risks to occupants and workers are minimized.
- Prevention of recurrence:
Fully understanding the causes of construction pathologies is essential to prevent future recurrences. Diagnosis not only addresses the immediate symptoms of the problem, but also identifies and treats the underlying sources, reducing the likelihood of pathologies recurring.

In summary, accurate diagnosis of construction pathologies is the first essential step toward effective intervention, as it provides the information needed to select the best repair strategies, ensure the safety and durability of the structure, and optimize the use of available resources.
