The International Motor Insurance Certificate, better known as the green card, is now printed on white paper, with only the detachable label remaining green.
Since July 1, the green card for car insurance has been printed on white paper, according to a statement issued by the Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection (DECO). However, the detachable sticker to be placed on the windshield remains green.
Even with this change, previously issued documents remain valid, so green cards issued after July 1 will already follow the new model.
According to DECO, this change serves to simplify and make certain procedures more flexible for insurance customers and beneficiaries.
With this new model, green cards can be sent by email for the policyholder to print, thus avoiding any postal delays.
