DID YOU KNOW THAT…

There is no specific coverage—for now—for electric cars and everything related to them. However, it is generally recommended—and we agree—thatthese installations should be reported to the insurance company. This is because they constitute achange in risk.

In the event of claim, you may need to file a claim under coverage such as fire insurance or electrical hazards coverage, for example, which is why it is important for the insurance company to be aware of their existence.

The notification to the insurance company must include information on the number of stations and certain technical details—a descriptive report—specifically regarding the type of stations, who installed them (accredited entities), and the installer’s certificate must be provided.

As for auto insurance policies, they include coverage for third-party liability, fire, lightning, or explosion, among others, which will be activated if any of these events occur involving the vehicle.
